ENGINEERING SMALL PROJECT SUPPORT

To provide engineering and technical resources to scientific projects across LBNL within the project’s technical requirements, budgets, and schedules outside of the DOE O.413.3b threshold

WHAT WE OFFER

Our group uses Mechanical Engineering CAD tools that include PTC, Autodesk, and SolidWorks. Analytical capabilities range from FEA (ANSYS) to seismic analysis for mounting of equipment. For Electrical Engineering we will connect you with our EE department resources.

We can assist with understanding space characteristics in regards to planning for proximity to tools, utilities, crane access etc.

The ESPS group can give institutional guidance on how to handle procurement, shipping / receiving / transportation, EH&S, Facilities topics, on-site fabrication, and hiring.

Technician support is available for fabrication, assembly, installation, and maintenance. The ESPS group is available to interface with procurement, support SJHA, and give general subcontractor management.

Our team supports your project through calculating estimates, writing report statuses (WJO etc), and scheduling.

ESPS engineers are the subject matter experts for best practices in safety and design. We will review and then input your WPC, schedule a qualified technician for assistance, and write EH&S guidelines.
